An instructor of the famed Bauhaus until 1933 when Hitler shut it down, Joseph Albers continued his teachings abroad to the United States, teaching at such institutions as Harvard (1938- 1941), Black Mountain College at North Carolina(1941- 1950), and Yale, where he retired (1950-1960).
