Had a look at Sol le Witt's walls.....

Following on from the last entry I am dealing with my frustration by deconstructing art I like i.e. what do I mean by like?
I am reading essays by Derrida da da this being a bit of bla bla bla so look for "the biases within a structure of meaning in a text and look at where one term is favoured in opposition to another"...for me, at the moment, the word LIKE...I like!

I havent looked at Sol Le Witt for a while - by doing so I see what I liked about him and this is adding to my frustration as visiting and/or revisiting some other stuff I like is only to divert me from my own inability maybe I will see where this takes me....
I have a lot of photos of Le Witt some of pieces I have seen, some out of a book and some photos that i want to put with and against so indulge me my indulgence.

I am frustrated...

I am frustrated by what I am doing... in fact I don't like it much as it falls short on all the levels I can think of. Basically I wanted to make colour have an impact and look at how different colours relate to each other.

So now is a time to reflect..

I was inspired by David Batchelors Chromophobia - basically the richer you get the whiter your white is.

To this end I wanted to use throw away items and paint them the items were for me irrelevant they were just vehicles to carry colour.

I gathered...and my friends gathered milk cartons and I painted them I had another restriction I wanted to keep costs to the minimum...so i used paint I had.

Then I spent what felt like all my life painting these bloody bottles - I never had enough but at the same time I had too many!

Then I had to think how to join, display show them?

Am still thinking

What was nearly pleasing in a drawing was impossible to achieve - well for me it was.

The form of the bottle got in the way.
Then I looked at pillars or colour and used wine carriers to hold the bottles and this is where I will stop rather than where I thought I would be.
What is that joke: You ask directions to a place of a local who says I wouldn't start from here!
Well I wouldnt finish here either ... I just am!

Colour

Bit of a relective moment .....what I was interested in exploring was looking at colour and the relationship it has with itself and things around it...what i have learned is colour is more than just pigment it has an impact within itself as well as against other colours.

This is for me making sense by looking at painting the same(ish ) item in different colours...milk bottles but only as they are disposable of if you care recycleable stuff.

This links with my earlierthoughts about walls having ears..maybe bottles hold messages so I can maybe build on blood lines and family trees to look at piles of colour literally?

Some pictures of piles and pillars and someone watching
